prestressed cable net

For the TU/e course lightweight structures, a cable net design was made. The cable net only remains stable when it is prestressed and has a curvature in at least two directions. The typical anticlastic shape of the model is found by a formfinding process (software program GSA). The end result is a full scale model of the design, made from a rope net and steel cables. The theoretical knowledge about lightweight (prestressed) structures was also tested by means of a written exam.
