As a structural engineer it is very important to gain knowledge about the characteristics and behaviour of structural materials. By attending various material-related courses at Eindhoven University of Technology, I gained vital theoretical knowledge. This knowledge was put to the test by the various obligatory exercises for each material related course. In these exercises, a range of structural calculations are made, including: concrete slab, beam and column, composite steel-concrete elements (floors, beams, columns), laminated timber beams, timber frames and roofs, and aluminium beams and frames. Due to these exercises I know my way around the Eurocodes and how to apply the rules for each material in a correct manner.
